Consultations & Grief Medicine Untrainings

INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION

I offer individual consultation for those whose vocation includes holding space for grief via rituals, groups, individual therapy, or as a community leader. In our time together we can focus on whatever you need support around, whether it’s a specific case you are working on, crafting a ritual, or helping you learn to trust in your skills as facilitator.

Fee: $250/hr

A handful of openings are set aside for people who cannot afford to pay the full fee. If I am a good fit for you on your search for a consultant and if you qualify for a fee reduction, I would be happy to work with you to get the support you are seeking despite financial constraints. If there are no openings you have the option to be put on a waiting list for when a fee reduction spot opens up.

CONSULTATION GROUP WAITING LIST

I am in the process of forming a monthly consultation group for those who work in the field of grief to receive ongoing support in a group setting that centers community care, right use of power, compassionate presence, and holding reverence for grief and its unique impact on each person, all held within a culturally aware, trauma-informed lens. If you are interested in being on the waiting list, please contact me for details.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working in the field of grief and/or lived experience in loss and grief
  • Willingness to commit to at least 3 sessions
  • Dedicated practice in working with your own grief outside of consultation (individual therapy with a professional or an art/journaling/nature practice, etc)

Fee: $150/90 mins

GRIEF MEDICINE UNTRAININGS

As therapists, we are seldom taught how to be with grief in our graduate programs yet loss is everywhere and every client who walks into your office is in one way or another, impacted by loss. When we know pain, we are more empathetic to the grief and pain of others. When we anesthetize our own pain, we anesthetize the pain of others, too. To be well-versed in the world of grief therapy, we often have to re-examine what we learned in our programs and see what really helps our clients when they are in the throes of grief. I work with clinicians and healers to access and tend to their grief from the inside and view grief as one of the key ingredients to dismantling the structures that perpetuate harm to build more resilience and courage in these heartbreaking times.

In this experiential pedagogy, participants will learn:

  • How to detect the variety of losses that clients may be experience
  • Helpful tools and skills to facilitate group and individual grief therapy
  • How to define traumatic loss and what measures to consider when working with it
  • How to address individual and collective grief through the lens of group work, expressive arts, and somatic therapy
  • How to be in right relationship to their own grief
  • How to set an effective container to support clients experiencing loss

Testimonials:

“Excellent! Really appreciated the experiential exercises + the presenter’s background (professional and personal and creative). Loved the pace. Didn’t feel rushed. Felt relaxed and spacious.”

“Experiential focus was PERFECT for the subject. So helpful to “do” what we will share with our clients!”

“An all day experiential where we could be our clients. This was quite nice. It’s scary for me to be vulnerable in a group. While it was still challenging, Amy was able to invite everyone’s compassion in.”

“The experiential were THE BEST. I’ve been to many presentations and workshops on grief…all the “thinking” workshops. This is better (and preferred) experience and learning opportunity.

“Great balance of slides + experiential. Gentle and strong leadership style, inclusive, authentic.”
